RUDY RIVERA

Rudy Rivera, 5th Dan and a long-term member of the Kojosho Board of Regents, passed away suddenly on June 22, 2009. Rudy was always extremely exuberant and enthusiastic in his support for the Kojosho System. He competed successfully in IKKF international tournaments including the 1995 Goodwill Games in Australia & several Cup of the Americas events in Costa Rica.
No one who knew Rudy will ever forget him. There is not likely to ever be another Rudy. He will be missed.
A formal Kojosho memorial ceremony was held for Rudy Rivera at the IKKF Headquarters Dojo on July 11.

A BOXING LESSON

Floyd Mayweather Jr is perhaps the best boxer of this era and without question the most talented. Floyd Money Mayweather shows an unprecedented mix of speed, power and natural instincts every time he steps into the ringóa combination that has already translated to 39 wins without a loss, 25 knockouts, and world championships in five weight classes.

In a recent news conference, Mr. Mayweather lectured: "Heart is not enough in boxing. You can't be a great fighter unless you can easily flow back and forth between offense and defense and unless you can fight both coming forward and backing up."

FALL KOJOSHO CAMPS

The Berkeley Kojosho Fall Camp was held over the September 26/27 weekend. Mr & Mrs Absher led the advanced study of Kojosho Third Person & Weapons Kata. There was an abundance of excellent food and great wine. Wish we all could have been there.

The Kojosho Fall Camp at Elephant Butte Lake was held over the October 17/18 weekend. As usual there were opportunities for serious study for students at every level, plus ìsecret ninja demos of walking in water and making enchiladas and cold drinks disappear.
